چکیده

IN RECENT YEARS, a disturbing trend has emerged in which scientific journals are accepting manuscripts in exercise biochemistry/physiology that have employed inappropriate methodologies to study exercise or exercise training (for example, Refs. 2, 10, 14, 17, 18, 27, 28). A lack of basic knowledge in exercise biochemistry is often evident and usually coupled with a failure to cite classic literature in the field. The outcome is the publication of questionable science that is subsequently subject to erroneous interpretation. The purpose of this Viewpoint is to encourage a dialogue on the criteria needed to establish standards for studies that employ exercise and/or exercise training as an experimental intervention to permit clear, consistent, and appropriate evaluation of data by both investigators and readers. This Viewpoint will attempt to remind us, as scientists, that to maintain high quality exercise-based publications we must not ignore, but continue to build on, the experimental standards previously established by the leaders of our field. Thus this Viewpoint is divided into sections where important misconceptions have found their way into the current literature. Important considerations in selecting methods for fiber typing and for testing of endurance times to exhaustion.

Evaluation of gold nanoparticles radio sensitization effect in radiation therapy of cancer: review article

In recent years, the use of gold nanoparticles (GNPs) in radiation therapy has been studied by experimentation and Monte Carlo simulation repeatedly. Although the idea of increasing doses has been raised by high-atomic elements since decades ago, but due to the adaptation of gold nanoparticles with the biological system, scientists have incited more about the various uses of these materials in ...

Commentaries on Viewpoint: Gold standards for scientists who are conducting animal-based exercise studies A RATIONALE FOR SDS-PAGE OF MHC ISOFORMS AS A GOLD STANDARD FOR DETERMINING CONTRACTILE PHENOTYPE

TO THE EDITOR: We believe that a better “gold standard” with regard to assessing fiber type, specifically the contractile phenotype, is with SDS-PAGE separation of MHC isoforms performed, optimally, on single isolated muscle fibers. The metabolic and contractile phenotype must be assessed separately, and the electrophoretic approach offers distinct advantages to ATPase and immunohistochemistry ...

P97: Physical Exercise as an Effective Factor in Alzheimer Disease

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive disease that destroys memory and other important mental activities. Scientists have found that remaining relatively active can lead to better brain activities in those at risk of developing AD. In some Meta-analyses of prospective investigations, a significantly reduced risk of dementia related to midlife exercise have been proven. Most studies have bee...

Improving planning, design, reporting and scientific quality of animal experiments by using the Gold Standard Publication Checklist, in addition to the ARRIVE guidelines

Several studies have demonstrated serious omissions in the way research that use animals is reported. In order to improve the quality of reporting of animal experiments, the Animals in research: reporting in vivo experiments (ARRIVE) Guidelines were published in the British Journal of Pharmacology in August 2010. However, not only the quality of reporting of completed animal studies needs to be...
